Ask Mr. William Collins

How lovely!  It reminds me of a lovely square foot of parkland in the grand demesne that is Rosings Park!

“ Dear Mr. Collins, I do not mean to sound rude at all, dear sir, but did you perhaps receive my last letter? I have a fear that Tumblr as a postal service is experiencing some delays and misplacement of letters. I am also writing to inform you that Mr. Ferrars has at last joined. He is most anxious to make many acquaintance with my dear friends, including yourself. I hope all is well, and the Charlotte and Lady Catherine are in good health. Sincerely, Miss Dashwood. ”

My dear Miss Dashwood,

I am so very sorry- I did not receive your letter, lest I should have replied to it with the utmost haste!

The post is a very silly sort of thing, I’m afraid.  Forever misplacing things.  They really aught to dismiss that new carrier.

Alas!  I am delighted for the newfound happiness which must be surrounding your heart at this moment with the reunification of yourself and Mr. Ferrars. I have been very busy with the parish, and have not seen him on Tumblr, but that is likely due to my absence over the past week.  If you do not think me too presumptuous, I do hope that now he is joined us, you may contemplate that most excellent of sacraments which brings everyone involved only the utmost joy!

Do tell Mr. Ferrars that he is most welcome, and now that you have told me, dear lady, you may count upon my calling on him.

Thank you for your inquiry, too, about my wife and Lady Catherine- they are both in the best of health and highest of spirits.  We have nothing to complain of, and are the most fortunate couple in England, I often feel!  You too I hope shall gain this felicity upon donning the state of matrimony!

Yours,

~Mr. W. Collins

“ Mr. Collins! I didn't know you were on tumblr! If I had, I would have been following you already. But ya you're pretty much awesome. ”

warpedmelody

Oh goodness Miss Melody, such flattery!  I thank you most warmly!  I am glad that your of opinion of me is so high, for it is my constant study to set an example in the community.  Such is the duty of a clergyman, and twice as much is mine for being favored by such a noble lady, my patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh!

Yours,

~Mr. W. Collins

When my friends suggest I should go dancing to get myself a date

starberry-cupcake:

Indeed Miss Mary is right! Although, as a clergyman myself, I do not think there can be any harm in dancing, find it an innocent diversion, and perfectly compatible with my profession!

Reblog if you would rather marry Mr Collins than John Thorpe.

HA!

hm, would i rather have a husband that berates me, reads the Bible to me in bed, and worships his fag hag (lady cat) or one who abuses his dogs and horses, hates books, and swears in bleeps (g— d——-)

gah noooooooooooo

but i guess if i were with collins, at least my house would be fabulously decorated (SHELVES IN THE CLOSETS!!!)

Definitely Collins over Thorpe, allll the way. XP

Ladies, ladies!  There’s enough Collins to go around!

It occurs to me that it may well be the divine providence of Our Lord for all the excellent people of Tumblr who have here joined us in the sacrament of Holy Admiration of Jane Austen to all take a little pilgrimage to that lady’s house in Bath and then post here about it. With a rather ridiculous inundation of visual evidence, naturally.

Individually.  In groups FROM Tumblr!  With fellow Janeite friends.  With your pets.  Or your in-laws, spouses, or even your children (which in some cases may be virtually the same thing).

I would know about these things, my dear friends- being a man of God myself.  And- perhaps I should have mentioned this first- I feel that it would be seen as a particularly fine idea in the eyes of Her Ladyship, Lady Catherine De Bourgh.

To actually spend a night in the aforementioned domicile (which is indeed possible)  would of course be splendid, but not all of us can be so grand.  Alas!

*NSYNC’s “God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You” is about Mr. Collins.

Oh my, Miss Other, I am flattered, I’m sure!

Indeed as I might point out, Miss Elizabeth and myself were not first cousins, nor were Miss or Mr. Crawley.

It is however, insofar as I have meager knowledge of the law, legal in almost all of the states of the New World to marry one’s first cousin.

I never realized that Mr. Collins refers to women as “females” before.

ladonnapietra:

One more reason to dislike him!

Oh my, do excuse me if I prefer to use synonyms in my daily speech, sir or madam…
